Example: alternative site general on /mlp/ often acts as a catch all for archival and tech discussion but is moderated arbitrarily because it is supposed to be the alternative site general but sometimes that topic is almost dead, at least my perception. I think as long it is flexible I don't care if one focuses more on one and one on the other. Just don't want anyone to be retarded with it (which I don't think Bridgefag is with how he worded it).

The archive everything mindset comes from people not archiving enough and sometimes something obscure and unimportant one moment might something you regret later. Like youtube comments, cringe subreddits, etc. It still matters.
