I guess I should actually make a suggestion instead of just bitching about NPR.
I like >>13184
's suggestion about donating the car directly to a person*. There are lots of decent people who are hard up for transportation because of things outside of their control. I don't like the idea of flyers though, because I think you'd just get a bunch of spics or potatoniggers (Irish) who fancy themselves shade-tree mechanics and want to put some minimum mechanical work into a free car and flip it for a grand or two.
If you're not a basement dwelling autist, you ought to be able to figure out how to meet a variety of people, some of whom will be (or will know) people who could use your car. I don't have any specific advice about that, though, because I'm a basement dwelling autist.
*In order to avoid falling afoul of various retarded laws about taxable gifts and the like, you might need to actually sell the car for a nominal amount.
