I'm glad you think so because otherwise that ability is underpowered for what it costs (8 hours of rest).

I did further research for my own benefit and indeed any amount of healing will stabilize a victim, also potions can work even if the victim is unconscious.

A creature who is unconscious has negative hit points to a maximum of the negative of their total possible hitpoints. They can be unconscious starting at zero. The wizard was drained completely, -6hp. So he had -5hp after you touched him. There is currently a cleric of Tyr aiding the healing of the victim where he lay, the temple of tyr happens to be near the plaza separated by priest quarters overlooking the plaza.

When a creature is healed above 0 hp, they are awake and may move if they aren't too exhausted. But in this wizard's case you would have had to heal him 7 hp.
