You like Dead by Daylight? Their early work was belittle noob saves as a waist. But when Portrait of a Murder came out November 2021, I think they really gamed into their zone, eternally and realistically. How do you make a game without any random elements?
1. Use conditionals instead: the world reacts to the actions taken by the player (or lack thereof) since the start of the game.
For example, depending upon the state of the world (such as changes caused by the player or game clock) and the time from the start of the game's clock, certain types of enemies will act in accordance with one set of rules when they are unaware of the player (or their actions), another ruleset when they are partially aware of the player (or their actions), and another when they are fully aware.
2. for some things that would otherwise operate on a basis of chance (such as a skill that has a 25% chance of dealing double damage when used), you can instead replace it with some criteria that would activate the event once met, for example the skill mentioned above may deal double damage every fourth time it has been used, or will deal double damage if used on a certain enemy, or in a certain location on the enemy, or when the enemy is in a certain state (less than half health, on fire, etc.)
3. Initial item placements and drops would be fixed, as would the initial placement of enemies, every map would always be the same, and both encounters and npc's may appear in certain areas based on the clock and game state, not by chance.

SS13 Hippie Station CKEY:CID Database Leak
I have been designing a Computer ID ("CID") spoofer--considering that the CID generation algorithm is known--for BYOND, and thought about adding an impersonation functionality to it. (i.e., you could set your CID to that of someone else's and basically steal their identity, or even get them banned on SS13 servers.)
So far it is working good, albeit a bit slow as it has to brute force all the possible combinations and match them against the CID obtained from BYOND's algorithm.
But this would require that you know the victims' CID prior to the spoofing process, and this means spending some time on first getting to find out their' CID's.
However, I remember that approximately one year ago there was a database leak of Hippie Station which contained a lengthy list of all of their (somewhat size-able) playerbase Client Keys ("CKEY") in addition to their CID's. (Meaning that you don't have to setup a trap to find out the victims' CID anymore.)

In good faith I request an actually very and extremely fun ge, beyond the ordinary moderately fun game.
I suggest: a Mario tennis game where you get to your ball like a super Mario 64 star to hit it. Besides that your character runs and jumps with the same or greater powers than super Mario 64 Mario. A super smash bros aspect added would be a good thing. Then after we all tee off we can chase each others characters down and squash their heads and punch them and stuff, it would be cool. I know some cohesion of dynamics would make the game playable in multiplayer. I like making Mario run and jump around in super Mario 64.
I think this requires about ten dark years in the think tank to brainstorm.

Hisoutensoku is an expansion to Touhou 10.5 SWR and is a multiplayer fighting game made by Tasofro with ZUN's approval. It's easy to learn, hard to master battle system makes for fun and fast paced matches with counterhits often launching girls across the screen. Very fast when played right. As a P2P game, game hosts must forward ports in order to play it or use specific workarounds.

Hisoutensoku is an expansion to Touhou 10.5 SWR and is a multiplayer fighting game made by Tasofro with ZUN's approval. It's easy to learn, hard to master battle system makes for fun and fast paced matches with counterhits often launching girls across the screen. Very fast when played right. As a P2P game, game hosts must forward ports in order to play it or use specific workarounds.

Strategic storytelling
Why won't there be a JRPG that just lets me play the fucking game? I don't even care if the battles are repetitive as shit like Valkyria Chronicles II, just let me slap together a party, jump into gameplay and progress the story through special attacks or something. tbh I used to hate the franchise as a whole, I just didn't like the concept. boring tail missions and being forced to play stealth all the time was something that I really loathed.
But then I played ass origins and my view has completely changed. No more tailing missions, the game gives you the complete freedom to play it however you like and want (different ways to approach enemies and situations, you're not forced to do stealth any more), and the combat has been reworked to the hit-box system instead of the lame ass boring paired animations system that has been used in the previous asscreed games.
Also not to mention the skill tree and the fuck ton of different weapons that have been added to the game, pic related.
Assassin's Creed Origins is a masterpiece, let me elaborate:

>Great details (the attention to complexity in this game is just so damn good)

I prefer quantity over quality)

The game is really fun and doesn't feel empty even after you finish the story, there's always a shit ton of things to do and discover, it's almost endless.
Can't give it a 10/10 tho since side quests can sometimes get repetitive (Quantity over quality), the story pacing is kinda awkward, it takes you a couple of hours to get right into the action and start experiencing the fun this game has to offer, and last but not least the optimization in this game is shit, get ready to experience a fuck ton of framedrops (Talking about PC).

Tokyo RPG Factory Games
So I'm close to beating Lost Sphear and even though it has a generic story, there are some very thought out abilities, mechanics, and boss battles that challenge you (If you play). Like these games actually came from people who have played RPGs over a long time instead of the stock follow trend setters at square pushing action games. Anyone ever play this game Zorbus? I stumbled across it on Roguebasin and wasn't expecting much. But it's actually a pretty decent roguelike. Dungeon levels are randomly generated, but the rooms are intelligently structured and themese. There is also a lore to the world, with books to read. AI is somewhat dynamic. Creatures will interact and there are hierarchies with superiors the smaller creatures answer to. You can also recruit friendlies.

Talents have been reworked, and the mechanics too, with combat being somewhat slower too. I only played 2 games on Legend as Slayer & Ironbreaker (And I forgot to change the talents mind you!), and Slayer with 2 Axes+Pickaxe no much change, but I died more easily tough. Again, Dint put talents well.
Now Ironbreaker with Shield feels heavier and better, and with the talents about stagger, it should even better.
I will ask this small question for those that played beta and more: What is the thing with the talent that make first enemy hit as staggered? Is any enemy instantly staggered or what? And its worthy to get it over the other ones of that level?

Looks like we're here for the duration. I doubt 8chan is coming back any time soon and even if it does it'll be temporary. Given that how about a thread on improving this board? I'll start:
1: some actual interaction with the moderation (a permanent meta thread for example)
2: reduce the maximum number of pages at least until the board gets faster. Halving it would help avoid a bunch of dead threads.
3: a basic visible rules page or sticky
And ditto for improving endchan itself
1: somewhere to interact with whoever's running the actual site, like a non-shit /sudo/
2: either posting where to find the board moderation logs or adding it to the software endchan is using.
3: a general upgrade to the default css of endchan to be less fucking terrible

Mixer vs Twitch
Im not even a streamer watcher, but the polemic with that Ninja faggot have made me discover Mixer. And I must say that, compared to the few time I went to Twitch, it worked better than Twitch. But that my small experience with both sites.
Because maybe I start using one of the stream sites (Watching some streams is not bad to enjoy), I want to bee sure if Mixer is all that good, or if anyone here thinks Twitch is better. Mixer only problem at first look is that is in the hands of Microsoft; But still Twitch with is retarded policies doesnt make it appealing. So redpill me on these sites. Or is there any better (And populated enough) alternative to these two sites?

SOULSBORNE is a cancerous subgenre name just like metroidvania
I want to kill the faggot who coined this term. Soulsborne is a piece of shit genre since Dark Souls 1,2, and even 3 are EXTREMELY different than Bloodborne. Bloodborne rewards speed and precision, while Dark Souls rewards load out preparations and patience. Sure there are speed demons in Dark Souls, but they're an outlier once you realize how UNGODLY TANKY enemies get past NewGame+. Yes DEX and Endurance builds are a thing, but to get them to be viable you still need lots of planning and scavenging of materials. Additionally the movement speed of the character doesn't improve invincibility frames, in fact the slower you are, the more i-frames you have, specially in Dark Souls 1 where fat rolling is AN EXTREMELY viable tactic.
The games actually punish you for rolling faster when it comes to rolling through attacks. Hell shield bonuses such as the eponymous grass crest shield show that the game was designed around shield usage. This is in stark contrast to Bloodborne where, yes loadouts are a thing, but reaction time and speed always wins the day. It's not like in Dark Souls where you can pop a Havel's/Smough Set and poise through attacks and cheese bosses with strategy. Sorry for the ranting but I just had to get this out of mind this springbreak due to interacting with some retarded relatives.

I posted this thread before but I think during the server change it was lost, I'm going to post it again for that reason.
I have this autistic thing where I can't enjoy games unless playing them in chronological order. Playing a sequel (or even a newer installment) feels wrong, but I don't really enjoy using the outdated mechanics of retro games so I'd like to start a thread in order to have an idea on where to start in a game series.

WORM Online General
This is a thread for documenting the development of my video game, W.O.R.M. Gear Online (subject to change in the future). I've been working on this for about 3 months now. Most of the Client/Server code is already done, because I'm salvaging it from a more ambitious project that was already quite developed. W.O.R.M. Gear Online is a 3D FPS, except instead of translating along the ground, the player is a flying drone, so we can translate vertically as well. The bulk of the weapons and drones are finished being developed, but still need a lot of fine tuning (e.g., is the shotgun too weak/OP?). I would also like to say that I'm on the look out for a level designer, and/or anyone else willing to contribute as a tester when the alpha is released. It's all so tiresome as a 1 man "team." Anyways, I keep my chin up, and plod on as always. Nietzsche once said, "An artist needs only his art, and his bread." In those days, paint and brushes were much simpler, notwithstanding period-blood paintings. Happy trails, lads. Will post progress here.

Then there's the multiplayer but I dunno about that, never played it. Apparently it works perfectly, even on the emulator, but figure that shit yourself.
Finally there's Bunta mode where you basically fight Bunta on all tracks and grind for difficulty stars.
After each completed race you get to choose 1 from 3 random cards (that are conveniently exposed in the emulated version). The details are in the provided FAQ.
tl;dr the cards with the highlighted suspension are performance upgrades, the cards with body panels and such are outside improvements, and everything else is largely irrelevant.

Then the game generates a route through a vast pre-made mountainside that you have to slide down against an opponent, and what you want to do is look for 'Collide Airs': you tackle each other mid-jump, and that triggers a WWE style air combat a few seconds at a time where you try to pin the opponent and perform a style combo, which factors in what kind of a swing you originally did and how close to a checkpoint it lands. Distribution methods
I figured out the way I want to buy games. There should be platform that's marketed like a little greenhouse garden and your purchases would be handled like a growing stock. Let's say Shovel Knight was available on that platform, the way it should work is that you could buy the vanilla version in 2014 and it would be titled for instance "Shovel Knight 1500" for the 15 bucks you paid for it. What would happen is that just like Shovel Knight in fact did get a lot of free DLC for first time buyers, and was notably cheap early on but heftier by now, the platform should format free updates in a way so that your $15 purchase would grow by itself into a "Shovel Knight 2300" and beyond, and at that point the vanilla version plus all finished DLC would be 23 dollars to buy on the spot. It would handle DLC as a free early adopter bonus by default. Then I would be happy to even get double dipped with a full physical edition later on with my absolute favorite games, after my scant savings helped the company early on when it counted the most.
I wouldn't make it a mandatory to give free updates, but only to stick to the format. There would be companies that would release games with little to no "growth", but even then it would just be a neat and transparent way to market the value of those games. Customers could make their judgement if growth is the end-all worth or if they're happy with a good game that's samll but full experience right out of the gate. And of course it's exploitable with "over-valuing" a game by overpricing the free DLC, but I don't think trickery like that would get anybody very far or cause any real problems since you still get to buy the games you want to buy at the price they're available, not counting on always getting free enhancements is already just common sense.

There was this one thread in which platformers were being discussed really in depth. Specifically Sonic platformers in 3d, and I think I have an idea on how to fix the combat while adding to the platforming. Why not, when you destroy more than one enemy by jumping on top of them, the camera changes to bird's eye view?
This COMPLETELY does away with the shitty auto aim mechanics we see in 3d Sonics without compromising jumping speed like in the 3d Mario, Pacman or Crash games.

2D platformers
Do you think 2D platformers with anime sprites are still viable? I've been thinking of making a platform with Sonic physics set in the slippery snow, except instead you play as a cute armless ice skater who has to fight by slashing enemies with her kicks. The world would be a fantasy environment that encourages you to explore like Donkey Kong Country 2, and the gameplay would punish you for misjudging your speed or timing as you burst through ice walls.
I am concerned that the current generation only cares about Unity engine and 3D games. I might not even be able to break even if I ever sold the game, and to be honest It's hard to motivate myself to make it if I'm just doing it for free.

I'm not a kid with hundreds of hours for grinding anymore. Shorter rpgs are a good thing. Big budget companies are mainstream and anti - creative, so I approve of smaller fanned and more niche.
