They gain immense external validation from the internet (X.com, discord, tiktok) by performing like their abusers, and it perpetuates as "culture". It feels to them like a friend group, sometimes the only one they have. Parents really don't give a shit about what kids do online, and now with ai deepfakes, groomers can just make up nudes to blackmail.
For the last 5 years theses kinds of groomer have more or less been running around scot free. Even internet vigilantism ends up just being a doxx and sending pizzas to their address, very grim state of affairs.
