A lot of money was invested in certain companies like nvidia in the hopes that advancements in AI would cause their value to skyrocket. Those advancements aren't coming and the hype is dying down, so what do they do? They increase the value of GPUs to the point where they price out the average consumer to keep the whole thing from falling apart. Nvidia's stock price is currently quite overvalued and will have to be corrected at some point.
