I forgot to mention this but it's also possible to have a pessimistic view of the world and still be hopeful. It sounds contradictory but it's probably why you don't understand her. "The world is always cruel, but that's all the more reason to be there for each other, right?" It's why I'm drawn to her so much. Being hopeful despite the hand you're given. She's very resilient in that way.
