>>181014There has to be continuity for it to be considered as part of the same civilization. The strain of civilizational thought which began with the Greeks, then Romans, Germanics, Western Europe, and now the US. Largely speaking, the reason for the cultural shift from Greeks/Romans to Germanics is primarily due to racial superiority of the Germanics, yet as Greco-Roman civilizational structure/governance was superior, they had to adopt it to compete, the Germanics did begin to call themselves "Holy Roman Empire" at some point. Christianity was also superior to the Folk Pagan faiths, it was better at creating more complex and organized systems. So modern "Western Civilization" is "White", Christian, and based upon Greco-Roman foundation. The center of the modern "West" now finds itself in America. The Americans were able to defeat both the Germans and the Japanese, proving the cultural superiority of the Individualistic American. American branch of Christianity is also faring better than Catholicism and European Protestant Brances, "Protestantism" was merely opening Christianity up to the Free Market, and now we are seeing Evangelicals rising to the top of this free market, there are many reasons for this such as their heavy in-group bias and not being opposed to war.
