Social services were typically the responsibility of the Church, but secularization caused them to fall under the State. This created this sort of cult of Welfare that evolved into modern Parasitism. The Church typically ran schools, hospitals, welfare, medical services. This later turned into the whole Judeo-Marxist nightmare following the "Enlightenment", secularization and the Statism. Church welfare was only for the needy, not like modern secular Socialism. The lack of Spirituality in modernity has turned people into lazy and entitled beings dependent upon hedonism.
