Not sure whether "AGI" in itself a realistic possibility, it is sort like one of those Mathematical equations that are recursive yet never end, we will strive to achieve AGI, and the Machine will get better and better but never quite reach it. I'm not so sure if it can reach human intelligence, AI will do everything far better than a human, except for reasoning. Any human that can apply its reasoning upon AI, will be able to supercharge his own abilities astronomically. You'd have to find a way to enhance human reasoning, you cannot define it mathematically so you cannot create an artificial reasoner that you could then "boost". Pattern recognition is one thing, AI does that well, but it is unguided, it lacks wisdom. Our inability to conceptualize consciousness is a sort of proof of that, the consciousness function is the limit, it's the highest level of cognition, we cannot see above it.
