It is true. Guns originated in the East, then Traveled West. Several populations had access to Gunpowder. Yet only Europeans made the innovations which mattered. Colonialism did not start with Gunpowder, although the Technology entered Europe at a similar time, Swords were more relevant in that era and for most of Early Colonial Period.
