Personally I sympathize with anyone being oppressed, but it would be borderline suicidal to expect Israelis to act against their own interests. It'd be also hypocritical for me to grandstand over Israel and not hold the same regard for other states like the US, France, the UK, or Belgium, who have committed even worse atrocities.
At least (for now) they are winning, so you can't help but respect the winners.
A war in Jerusalem is part of the doomsday story in all 3 major religions, so a conflict between Semites (Arabs of Ishmael & Jews of Jacob) would cater to that.
