This is common stuff that happens in highschool age, I think nearly all of us grew up with tough friend groups, getting made fun of, etc. HOWEVER the one difference is if you have BPD and/or use drugs you're much more likely to off yourself because you cannot control an emotional reaction like a normal person would. I wouldn't even be surprised if KT literally stormed home and did this on a whim after a random dispute.
