To start with the disclaimer that I don't know him from Adam, here are my logical inferences:

1. There's never been a single Tomboy in the history of the world that didn't get into boy stuff to spend time with their daddies.

2. She'd need to be getting her money from somewhere, and him being an officer would first of all explain why she has so much of it, and would go hand in hand with his constantly being away from hand, leading to more daddy issues.

3. It's more or less impossible to be in the military long term without being fucked in the head. Seeing dead people either fucks you up, or is the perfect calling for those that are already fucked up.

4. Mental illness always runs in families. Crazy men have sex with crazy women, whom produce even crazier children. We all know she mental illnesses because she self harms and abuses substances, has dangerous sex with guys most women would run away from,etc, and so ipso facto her parents must have been this way as well.

5. Physiognomy. She's a stocky high test female with high test genes. Since it's harder for high test men to succeed soft feminized spaces than it is for spineless soy boys it's more likely he found his niche in a masculine career that's heavily male dominated.
