I have Cherokee relatives in my family tree going back to the Cherokee War when my Calhoun relatives were massacred by Cherokee at Long Cane so they raided the Cherokee village and took their women as replacement wives for the ones that were killed during the massacre. John C. Calhoun is a great-uncle of mine.
