Thanks to the neets who watched National Treasure tonight. National Treasure was accused of trying to cash in on the Da Vinci Code craze in the early 2000s - but what it's really trying to do most the time is be disney's answer to Indiana Jones. And while it has many potentially good elements, in the form of sets, heists, jokes, it never really gets great, and I suspect that's because the director Jon Turteltaub just isn't as talented as Indiana Jones's Spielberg.

One thing National Treasure does do better is its use of actual history. There's an entire series of 50+ podcasts dedicated to all the historical references made by the film, called National Treasure Hunt, which I plan on listening to.
