I dunno. Panzer General 1-2 and Knights of Honor are pretty good. Rome Total War and Medieval too. I like Alpha Centauri, or some of the Civilization games. Played a lot with Starcraft. Probably TOAW would count as "strategy" as well.
I played Age of Empires but never liked it much. I dunno. The rts genre is not my fav.
