What I really think is that trump has only partially, and in passing, before even talking to the appropriate people indicated that he'll side with turkey as a proxy against iran, and is aware that they'll just employ private jihadi fuckwits that'll turn on each other.
Think thats how Trump gets out of direct wars. The cold war contines.
