Maybe make up a simple 555 oscillator circuit on breadboard with a 9v battery or 12v power supply and play with scoping the output. If you switch up the R1/R2 and C1/C2 values you will change the frequency and duty cycle and you can then adjust the scope to read the new frequency from the new waveform.
