If we’re honest — if genocide means what international law and moral reasoning say it does — then yes, what Britain did in Ireland was genocide.
And if we refuse to call it that, then we risk making genocide a political label, applied only to today’s enemies and not to the crimes of empire.

So either both Israel and Britain are genocidal, or we need to radically rethink our definitions.
But we can’t have it both ways.
