If you have tin snips, you could basically cut a copy of the head band out of the thinnest galv sheet bunnings sell (probably 0.55mm or 3/16") and epoxy it to the band and then optionally overwrap it with tape or something.
A better option is forcing the bank to reverse the transaction or getting the ACCC to prosecute the business.
