A while ago I got a N64 controller and have made it a night ritual to focus entirely on gaming without alt-tabbing or having background noise. I guess it really says something with these old games that I don't have as much compulsion to have a stream/podcast playing to fill in the increasing chores I see in newer releases, especially open world segments.
What games do you associate with the end of the year? Diddy Kong Racing's frosty village level captures that feeling, even if it's summer rather being winter.
