>premanufactured megacorp slop around
wait.... vs modern mass manufactured corporate slop that has baked in planned obsolescence?

Consumer goods were far better quality back in the day and lasted a lot longer than they do now. I still have utilities from the 80s that work today. Missing a garage sale is like missing out on an opportunity. I once saw an old working Macintosh PC sell for $60. Do you know the value of that old PC now days? People will pay ridiculous amounts of money for those today. If you are a smart re-seller on Ebay you probably get "vintage" goods for dirt cheap at garage sales and then mark up the prices ten fold. Even if you don't make money re-selling goods you can still find killer deals and save a fuck ton of money vs buying modern retail.
