• Restoring the Light: Jesus enables Sophia to see the light again, strips away the oppression of the hostile archons/rulers, and guides her back up toward the higher Aeons and the Pleroma.
• Encapsulating Human Salvation: For Gnostics, Sophia’s tragedy and rescue mirror the human condition. A "divine spark" of Sophia resides trapped inside human beings. When Jesus comes to earth (often viewed not as dying for physical sins on a cross, but as bringing gnosis or hidden knowledge), he awakens that spark so souls can escape the material prison and return to the divine source.
