The Mother (Barbelo / Ennoia / Silence / Wisdom): The first emanation or thought of the Father. Often called "mother-father" or the divine feminine womb, Barbelo acts as the mirror or first principle through whom the Father projects creation. She is frequently identified in symbolic correlation with the Holy Spirit.

The divine family operates through male-female pairs called syzygies (representing sexual and spiritual complementarity) that populate the Pleroma.
