In art, bricolage refers to making creative works from a diverse range of available materials, "making do" with whatever is at hand. Anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss popularized the concept in his 1962 book The Savage Mind, comparing the artist or "bricoleur" to a resourceful handyman rather than a rigid engineer.
