Basically, I'm a scientist studying imageboards, and imageboard culture, and people who says things they wouldn't and couldn't say elsewhere. I like to ponder sometimes wild ideas, and toss them out onto random imageboards just to see what people say. Then I make note of it.

I'm thinking about human sacrifice. What was its real purpose? Why would past societies sacrifice their best human beings?

Maybe it is the reinvigoration of male virility. The dominant male sacrifices his most superior male, and in return receives newly-found sexual vigor. The King, the Emperor, the Pharaoh, would accumulate a new desire to create new life.

The best of human beings in past societies were offered to "appease the gods", but there was obviously more to it. No god was telling them to sacrifice their own perfect specimens. Why would an Emperor or a Pharaoh sacrifice their best males?

It was to feel powerful, and to renew sexual virility. Is it bad? Is it good? Who's to say?
