>So youre acknowleding religion sometimes is the primary reason for bloodshed. You just conceeded the point youre trying to defeat.
No. Religious fanatics do exist, but you can't just strip down all the bloodshed to those motivations. The larger scale conflicts had underlying political considerations and resources.
>Yeah yeah, you make excuses for your holy wars so you as a theist can sleep better. You're like Japs who make excuses for why they invaded their neighbors to avoid taking responsibility.
No I don't make excuses for all those retarded conflicts they did years ago. But those "holy wars" were more political then religious than many on either side realize.
>It's true that an ideology can be like a religion in their harmfulness. But religion itself does not divorce itself from ideology as we see with the Islamic caliphates and the Vatican.
Anything can be dangerous with the right circle jerk and right power hungry motivation. Removing religion will not prevent those justification for doing evil existing in any group. The political rhetoric of completely non religious gay /pol/tards can be as stupid as the religious ones. Truth is people will always group along some type of identities, whether be it religious, ethic or nation. Any of these groups can do bloodshed, especially if they feel threated, which will cause them to rationalize action taken on the enemy, whether be it restricted legal rights or genocide.
>Ignorant projection, where are all the atheists who blow themselves up for an ideology?
Soviet Union. Maoist China. French Revolution. Spanish Republic all had ideologies that were quite atheist in thought that killed people for a variety of motivations (and it wasn't all just top down directives either), just as there opposition has done killing people as well.
>You can't even count all the retarded theists?
No. There's plenty. But making all those retards atheist and swapping out the megachurches for secular charities wouldn't change much would it? Hell, in most places they are actually more motivated by heritage and put into that place by bad economic conditions anyway . Encouraging secularism isn't a bad thing, but removing religion wouldn't be the magical cure-all you r/atheist types think it would be. That's all I'm saying.
