Endchan got hacked a few month back and a load of images deleted. It was around the time half a dozen images got DMCA'd as well. Mainly boards #30,#31 and #32 seemed to be affected.

Technically yes BTW, or at least they can be DMCA'd as well. Same as if you sample a song you have to agree it with the original IP owner.
