I have a theory the mods have decided - given the escalating tensions in the community, and given bonbi has gone into Hard Times 2.0 it's in the best interests of the site's safety to purge any active boards, just in case something really bad actually does happen.
If they made a statement or official rule about it, it would acknowledge the existence of the general - so by saying nothing and simply banning all posters, they hope to maintain some kind of deniability in a worst case scenario.

I might be entirely wrong though.
They might just be being cunts.
