I came to a conclusion that bohemian mountains like Bohmerwald, Isergebirge and Erzgebirge are superior to Alps in many ways to actually live there.
Sure, they are no Alps, but

>enourmous variety of various roads, paths and whatever
>easily 500m+ climbs
>great for road, gravel and MTB
>longer seasons
>in winter = you can easily do XC
suck for hiking of coursh
