There were two primary reasons. One, we couldn't tax half the population before women's lib. Two, it meant children got into a school at a younger age, we could indoctrinate the kids in how to think, which breaks up their family, where the kids can look up to the state as their family, their school, and the officials, as their family, not their parents teaching them."
