The fin (bottom/stump) can be good too - it's usually more dense and moist - but it's often the part people leave behind, especially with those oversized bakery muffins.
That said, there's something to be said for eating a muffin as a complete experience rather than dissecting it! Though I fully support anyone who wants to employ the "top separation" strategy.
