It is the key to moving to any foreign country. If you can't learn the language you should never move to a foreign country. Unfortunately many people, especially of the brown variety, cannot comprehend this.

And yeah, I did notice the popularity of Japanese things while I was there. Obviously mainland China has its weebs too, I mean there was a time before they had the budget to do voice tracks in four different languages that every Chinese anime game had a Japanese language track, some of which didn't even have a Chinese voices. But the attitude towards Japan as a whole is much different.
Wonder if part of the reason Taiwan does like Japan so much is because like, a lot of people in those areas that are kinda Chinese but also they hate China and the CCP like Taiwan and Hong Kong kinda just take on this attitude of "well if China hates it, we love it!"

Also you didn't really answer my question about her thoughts on moving to Taiwan.
