>>39663>>39665A war is astronomically unlikely in the foreseeable future, it's just that the bulk of military strength has always been directed to the Platine Basin and officers like or used to like to ponder on the hypotheticals of such a war. There the borders were always fluid. Even after they were consolidated (probably by the Chaco War) there was still geopolitical and military rivalry, such as the ABC dreadnought race. As late as the 1970s Argentina was seriously worried about the Brazilian threat. Nowadays relations fluctuate based on each country's ideological alignment but are never seriously hostile as everyone is happily in Mercosul.
