It's an important number for sure, and features in many folk tales. It's an ancient thing (part of astrology too), but for example Christianity's Holy Trinity also elevated of its importance. There are other numbers, like 7 or 9 (which is 3 times 3). Some can be obsessive with the numbers, build it into their thoughts, in philosophy or politics.
