Keygen music is the result of demoscene. The scene groups were into coding, and to show off their skills they made demoparties where they played their demos, the animations and music. But besides coding these they got into cracking games too (among other things), creating cracks and keygens. Some groups had branches one doing some stuffs, others cracking shit, and they were separate but working under the same name.
