It also looks like their is a growing movement in the west to recognize Palestine. France was mentioned before but many other countries are too. Including Australia.
I think there are a few reasons for this, one is of course moral but the other seems a lot to do with the growing Muslim minorities in many western Country, France, the UK, Canada, Australia and Germany all have large Muslim communities and in a democracy that matters. It's the more politically sensible move to support Palestine than Israel now.
