The EU is making a free trade deal with the "Mercosul" group: Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia and Uruguay. Which means their agricultural products can flow into the EU freely. Here's the problem: EU enacting regulations on EU agriculture. They tell how people can produce, what tools and materials they can use, what bureaucratic hoops they have to jump through, what quality they have to conform to, why "green" targets they have to achieve. This makes prices go higher as they make farming expensive. Then they are cutting subsidies. Then here's the war and fertilizer prices in the sky. Energy prices in the sky. And now they have to compete with farmers and companies who can produce however they see fit, who don't face the same bureaucratic bs green regulations, and they can use whatever chemicals, hormones, and even GMO. This is he same thing Jeremy Clarkson talks about in his farmin telly show and recent books. EU is basically destroying the agriculture. This is insane.
