Well, Neko, the story of Doakes in Dexter was that he was suspicious of Dexter from the beginning, but he simply didn’t know what exactly was wrong with him. His path in the story goes from just mildly suspicious to an overblown obsession. The “you just know but can’t prove it” was just a meme, since he actually didn’t know and couldn’t prove it either
