Why do the mods keep removing images which are not against board rules or the global rules?

Anonymous 10/28/2017 (Sat) 03:50:47 [Preview] No. 7324 del
Because the images are about a desire to sexy time children with the super secret subtle insider pizza codes and someone doesn't want that on their board? Because someone screwed up an SQL delete? Maybe nobody deliberately removed them - maybe it's a bug in chan code (note that a whole bunch of files recently disappeared from a lot of endchan boards all at once, so if that's what you're talking about, my uninformed guess about it is technical difficulties.) Because someone just felt like it for no reason at all? Could be any of those and more.

My stuff gets deleted too sometimes. Everybody's does. These things aren't our permanent storage devices. I'd tell you about a time some of my OC got deleted but you'd be bored so pretend that I did and you weren't. What matters to me the most when it happens is that I can let go of psychic burdens.

Let go of your attachment to things you post on anonymous chans. You will level up in life happiness and will have another point you can place anywhere in your skill tree that you want.

oh.. doh! ha, i'm an idiot.. this is operate, so i can't post here anyway (expired captcha and then flood detected, every tahm i forget where i'm posting) and I am about to have to practice what i preach

lol that is literally the very first time operate accepted a post from me. of course now I can't remember a single one of the pressing issues i've tried posting here in times past

>Because the images are about a desire to sexy time children
If an innocuous photograph of a fully-clothed child (as in the OP) makes you think sexual thoughts, I feel very sorry for any children in your life (or in your vicinity), because you are a sexual predator. Please seek help before you hurt someone.

>someone doesn't want that on their board?
If a board owner doesn't want something on their board, that's up to them, but they should amend the rules to make that clear. Especially on official boards like /operate/. The images I'm referring to are not against the rules of any of the boards they were posted on or the global rules.

>Let go of your attachment
Your pop-Buddhist advice is adorable, but misplaced. I just want clarification as to why some images are disappearing. If it's a database problem or other technical problem, that's fine, but it would be appropriate for that to be stated by an admin. If it's now the unstated rule that legal, non-rulebreaking images that trigger mods will be removed, it would also be appropriate for that to be stated. None of the images to which I'm referring (some of which were, yes, innocuous pictures of children, you slavering closet pedophile) would have been removed even from 8chan.

If endchan is adopting a 4chan-when-moot-was-cleaning-it-up-for-sale style of censorship, that's up to the administrators, of course, but I would like to know if the site is becoming just another 4chan except without the traffic or the features.

Well some pics aren't being deleted per se at least it would seem that way as they're not listed in the logs. So it seems like some data is being lost on the server inexplicably? One blank post I made went through somehow without a picture. I don't think you're able to make blank posts so it would seem the post with picture went through but then the server lost it sometime after post creation? Quite bizarre.

Wew, that clarified things.

You probably already know this, but in case you don't see how bad the optics are, if you ever do the "What, me? No, you're the pedo for even thinking that!" thing in real life, a judge, jury, friends, or whoever will probably throw you down a figurative well even if they're sympathetic.

I know the hysteria about "pedophilia" has reached insane proportions in the West, but surely even cucks like you don't think that people are dragged into court for pictures like the one in OP?

I don't search for, view, download, or possess any illegal materials. I'm never going to be before a judge, unless it's in traffic court. Even that's not likely. I don't speed and I always wear my seat belt.

The amount of hyperventilating that some of you people do in order to virtue signal about your adherence to the taboo-du-jour is pathetic. "The optics"? Holy shit, is this an anonymous imageboard, or a political consultancy?

Try to think for yourself.

I was in another thread and posted a picture of Richard Nixon to accompany the text. The text went through, Tricky Dick did not. Kinda torpedoes the humor.

Being an imageboard these things are to be expected now and again. At this point I would suspect a wonky automated image scanning system is in place to curb DMCA violations and repetitive CP spam.

I have a certain image I try to post every two to three years on 4chan which gets rejected with a "malicious image" message. This is hilarious as the image is a completely innocuous (albeit pornographic) line drawing. I've posted it in the past to Endchan, and it's post-able everywhere else. 4chan's auto rejection of this image has been consistent for more than a decade.

Facial age guestumation scanners and hyperlink OCR detectors is what they is.

I'm not referring to images not going through, but images that have been up for days or weeks disappearing.

>At this point I would suspect a wonky automated image scanning system is in place to curb DMCA violations and repetitive CP spam

Lots of wild-ass speculation in this thread.

There is some crazy speculation going on. It's obviously alien pedos from Remulac 7 posting pictures of little girls with the same names as other pictures and then deleting them.

Anonymous 10/28/2017 (Sat) 19:00:22 [Preview] No. 7333 del
Holy shit, we're not even sure if a mod deleted a "legal" picture and people are already mad.
Could you at least point to what was deleted in the logs? Assuming it's legal you should be able to post it and get an official response here if it really is illegal. If it was deleted by a non-global mod, don't post about it here as this has little to do with /operate/. If it wasn't even deleted by a mod we could have a bug that needs addressing. You should have made a more explicit complaint that wouldn't lead to people wildly speculating.

I think there are two separate issues being discussed in this thread. They might be related, but they might not be. The first is OP's thing. The second issue is that pictures are being wiped/lost from threads on several boards over the last couple days. I'm not a mod and have no access to any logs that I'm aware of, but it's not hard to find threads being affected. /sp/res/139057.html is one. The text posts remain, the images are gone.

There's no need for the scare quotes. The images to which I'm referring are unquestionably legal in the United States and probably everywhere else in the world. Though on endchan, it's U.S. law that matters.

>and people are already mad.
Nobody's mad. I asked a simple question, civilly. Please calm down and reread the OP.

>Could you at least point to what was deleted in the logs?
No, because it's not in the logs. But picrel is one of the deleted images.

>Assuming it's legal you should be able to post it and get an official response here if it really is illegal.
None of the endchan mods are, to my knowledge, lawyers or judges. I'm not looking for a legal opinion, and don't need one. Again, the images to which I'm referring are unquestionably legal. I would like to know why they've disappeared.

>nobody's mad
I'm calm, but some people replying aren't completely calm. Wasn't necessarily directed at you, so I don't see why your implying I'm upset.

>picrel
Was it on /b/? I've seen it before. If the post is still up could you link to it? If not maybe the logs will show us who deleted it.
It's true that I don't see "deleted pics" in logs. If that's not a feature it should be added to the logs for transparency, so I'd ask for that if I were you.

Anonymous 10/29/2017 (Sun) 03:11:08 [Preview] No. 7343 del
Dunno whether all the pics disappearing is a bug deleting media, a bug being exploited by someone to delete media, or someone using board features to delete media and it doesn't really matter which it is. It's occurring at a high enough rate on enough boards to all types of media that I'd think it'd be a concern for an image board. I'd be monitoring a big list of images and running tcpdump on inbound to try to get a correlation and id the cause if it were my system but whaddevah. Mebbe someone's way farther on it than that.
