The Nationalist Party of China was the only legitimate government in mainland China and a member of the United Nations Security Council. However, the CCP rebels revolted, and the Chinese government lost all territories except Taiwan Island. The current Chinese government has been ousted from the UN Security Council, and communist rebels have taken over as permanent members of the UN Security Council.
