Seaponies would've been a hit if they had came in 2013, not 2017. By that point their was a backlog of memes and things to run with and the fandom fell in love with another edgy waifu. Tempest. It really was due to a backlog of memes already being established that new memes were no longer made for everything that appeared like in the first three seasons.

I don't know if being remembered as part of G5 would be a boon or a curse. Considering how turbo cancelled G5 is. Still, I do agree that their appearance did generate some short term success and I have seen a few people now fawning over seaponies even if there isn't as many autists yet. It is not a dead meme/fandom now. Slow burn might be better in the long run.
