>>12552>That is actually half decent spec'd machines. Very unusual considering what I know of you.Yeah, it is a long way from a couple of years ago when I just was posting from a pair of decade and a half year old laptops. Though truth be told, my access to good tech has always been more unstable than completely bad. I had a T470 at that time as well, it was just, on loan because of a family member having computer troubles.

>>12561>Sounds painful unless you enjoy that kind of thing and even a poorfag could probably scrape together something better and simpler than whatever you're trying to do.I have a M93p machine I acquired cheaply. The low power Xeons that would be easier on that machine are a bit expensive (not terribly though, but I am stingy) and harder to find. Normal Xeons that fit and work in the socket are as cheap as $5 despite being as powerful as i7s from the era (a combination of the marketing of the i7 and those Xeons dumped by corporate users and not being in high demand). They will supposedly boot with a powerful enough power supply but I want to run said Xeon under a restricted thermal profile something I can't do from the native BIOS of the M93p but can from coreboot, albeit I believe it is setting it in the flashing of the firmware and I can't adjust it afterwards. There maybe other stuff I will try too, if I get around to it. I think with RAM prices and potential power price increases it might be an ideal set up for a server of sorts that I want to have running 24/7.
