I used to lean towards no, back in the early 2010s, but... you have enough people who have been shaped by it, there still is some fresh blood coming in in some parts (not just the new social media zoomer places that debate if they belong to the fandom or not). I have a torrent saved of FiMfiction, and though I will probably never read it all, I am so, SO thankful for the creative energies released by the not-really-shared world of Equestria. Pony fanfiction spoiled me badly. I don't know what it is, but there is a certain "it" there and I find many other stories hard to get into as deeply. IDK if that is a special property or just because I drowned myself in that so much it became a highly specific taste.
