I think you're right! I do want to let things slide... But they just confuse me and then continue to confuse me

well, what I am trying to get at with the assumptions is not so much that what I'm assuming is definitely the case or ought to be the case, but rather what strike me as potential implications of the confusing element I'm contending with. So with RCV I'm thinking about what traditions would exist for visiting royals, what we've seen Celestia do on her visits to Ponyville, what Luna is using RCV for... Although what it's used for doesn't really matter if as the episode implies, Luna struggles to not speak in RCV, although in fairness I neglected to mention that it could just be a thoroughly-ingrained habit when speaking to subjects, and naturally any non-alicorns simply would register as "subject" to her. But essentially I'm moreso wishing to illustrate that something doesn't on the face of it appear to make sense in a way that I can figure out, and then I attempt to demonstrate that by showing some of my working in trying to figure out how it could work in a way that might make sense only to fail to do so!
