So here it goes:

Let´s say that it´s bad and purely shit and could bring down the 8th season. Why are we wasting effort on the yaks for some reason and why is Pinkie the only one attracted to them? Maud does not fit for the comedy nor she does intend to do that, the reference to Horse Play could be a cheap trick for the bonus points but that gets completely ruined by saying that both episodes have been written in the same year, so that´s not worth in theory to consider. The episode wastes a lot of time by showing how Pinkie is annoying with the sax or how she is depressed in any situation but that doesn´t advance the story at all. She is selfish and for some reason, she prefers having the sax over her friends or at least, near to her.

Obsessed with it for some reason and just not worth it, that´s not a concept that has a lot to be discussed, it feels like a B tier story (and somehow like season 1) and the yaks barely add anything to the story. Bringing the Non Compete Clause excuse just serves to justify the writing for ruining a character because the plot says so, Pinkie acts really over the top and this episode could serve as a weapon against a character that has been pandered or has served her purpose. The final part feels somewhat ruined because it seems that everyone is happy all of a sudden.

On the other hand, let´s put it in the other sight.
She wants to play the sax but why? She is bad at it and the lesson in theory, says the old cliché of whatever makes you happy, it´s what you want to do, a really overused plot device that sometimes it´s useless. You cannot be happy with whatever you want to do because you will get annoyed and disappointed at some point for anything that you don´t like. This moral has been used in 2000s and you have in the end...a millennial.
