I don't know. After all, the internet is about connecting the machines together. Can we really do much better than what we have today? The issues I see are rarely about the protocols, much more about the human nature. It mostly mimics the pathology of the modern business landscape, but on a global scale and more pronounced. Like social media monopolies. Antifa groups being able to shut down small companies. Big companies corrupting the states. Crime, money laundering? You've got it both in business and in the modern internet. I'm not saying it shouldn't be fixed, the technology is often outdated, can be redone with the modern experiences, but the internet supports overlay networks like darknets that can be built upon it so we can test some improvements before we try to deploy them globally. And maybe actually some problems are better solved on the social side, for instance by imposing new laws that make shilling heavily punishable.
