To be connected to the internet you have to be routable.

North America is connected to Europe and Asia via undersea cables.

Satellite internet was an option (and still is in very remote areas), but the latency is incredible and it requires several satellites all in a fixed line to serve world wide.
The world is a sphere. A satellite cannot cover the entire face of a sphere.

Anyway, back to cables. So... a satellite just floating in space.... how does the signal get from your computer to there?
One option, if they built the several geosynchronous satellites required for world-wide coverage, is to build a giant satellite dish which is connected to the rest of the internet by cable. Obviously, this is just a really indirect way of cabling directly.

The only other option would be to build your own satellite dish, a full internet protocol, and you stand out in your yard with a sextant such that you can figure out where and if you can even catch a satellite. Weather permitting.

It's just non stop bad ideas that don't make any sense.
Give me a single way that it does make sense, would be a lot quicker of a discussion (hint: because there is zero).
