here's my thoughts: in general, i pursue two kinds of leads:
1. Q clues
2. sauced stories (usually new)

If there are other stories that sound interesting but are unsauced, i wait til there is enough sauce to provide a proper lead

Example: Cali wildfires
Very interesting story but anons have beat it into the ground since last year; there are no fresh leads that i can discern (yet) so i'm just watching to see whether something turns up

meanwhile there are other stories that are both current and 'hot' with evidence (Biden, whistleblower scandal, etc), stories that we can dig on and get somewhere--maybe ahead of the curve sometimes
